Anna Jago Warin is an emerging photographer, who works primarily in the lens of queer and trans issues. During the course of their Photography BA at University of Brighton, Anna created vibrant portraits examining the many facets of the lgbtq+ community. As a trans and non-binary individual their identity has been seen to bleed into this practice. For Instance, ‘The Profit of Pain’ is a self-reflected exploration, examining Anna’s experiences of binding and top surgery in the UK - trans healthcare or lack thereof.
This Graduate body of work, featured in Free Range 2025, placing this project in the Open Doors Gallery Top Ten and no.1 in the Photoworks Top Ten. Anna’s intimate connection with the subject matter blended with precise studio skill enables the artist to form collaborative bonds with their portrait sitters, creating imagery that is empowering for both the models themselves and a wider queer audience. Through this empowerment, they aspire to peel away at the moral panic surrounding trans and queer people in the uk. Operating on a belief that greater photographic representation of minority groups generates agency, providing a voice to those who have often felt voiceless.
As a post-graduate at the precipice of the creative industry, Anna is endeavouring to continue their creative practice through engagement with Queer Grounds, as well as offering their services to lgbtq+ foundered events and growing their freelance contacts. Alongside this Anna, has began working at the heat of Sussex Emmaus as apart of the OUTFIT team, where they hope to enact creative enterprises here too. Anna has featured in exhibitions included in Brighton’s yearly Photo Fringe festival such as ‘In Your Face’ a queer display organised by the socially engaged art studio (SEAS), as well as graduate showcases such as ‘The River Cries with Its Mouth Full of Mud’, and Richard Kalman’s ‘CREAM’.
