Anna Warin is a young creative and photographer, who works primarily in the lens of queer and trans issues. They have created images discussing club kid culture, as well as transness and queerness, examining the many facets of the lgbtq+ community. As a non-binary person their identity bleeds into this work as they have previously explored their own relationship with Transness through self-portraiture, examining both their experiences of binding and top surgery in the uk. This intimate connection with the subject matter has motivated them to create portraits that are empowering for both the models themselves and a wider trans audience. Through this empowerment, they aspire to peel away at the moral panic surrounding trans people in the uk. Operating on the belief that greater photographic representation of minority groups generates agency, providing a voice to those who have often felt voiceless. 

This process often involves firsthand research with the local community; an interview with the sitter that later informs the colours and aesthetic stylings of the photoshoots. Completing BA Photography at University of Brighton allowed Anna to understand the power of permitting their lgbtq identity to intertwine with their studio skill. These interviews have also made-up audio pieces such as Disclosure 2024. As a Cornish artist, Anna is forever bonded to the craggy shores of the Southwest and the Isles of Scilly. This love of seascapes informs Anna’s photographic practice, as they examine the matrimony between film grain and geology. They do this using coloured filters in situ and alternative films in order to deconstruct our conventional understanding of these uk beauty spots. Anna has featured in exhibitions included in Brighton’s yearly Photo Fringe festival such as ‘In Your Face’ 2024 a queer display organised by the socially engaged art studio (SEAS), as well as ‘The River Cries with Its Mouth Full of Mud’ 2024 a student led exhibition which allowed them to understand the joy of collaborating with other artists to develop exhibitions.
