Queer Grounds

Queer Grounds a workshop initiative by Photoworks working with LGBTQ+ youth (or those questioning) and their friends aged 15 to 25. The program operates across Sussex, exploring queer identities, histories, and safe spaces. Hosted at the Devonshire Collective in Eastbourne, these sessions focused on collectivity, queer archives, and shared working under the guidance of photographer Eva Louisa Jonas and Kairo Kay.

As a participant I greatly enjoyed these workshops. The resulting installation pieces can be seen in ‘Where We Touch the Archive’ a national touring exhibition responding to the work of artist and activist Tessa Boffin (1960–1993). This showcase is currently featured in VOLT gallery Eastbourne, open from the 15th of July - 5th of September. As an active member of Queer Grounds, I look forward a second installation of these creative experiments in Brighton during the Photoworks Festival this October.
